Construction of a 200,000 - ton - per - year sodium sulphate production plant is currently underway in Inner Mongolia, China, with a total investment of 10 billion yuan ($1.38 billion). The project, led by China National Salt Industry Group, will use advanced waste - to - resource technology to convert industrial waste brine—generated from coal mining operations—into high - purity sodium sulphate and soda ash. The plant is designed to be fully integrated, with waste heat from production used to power on - site facilities, and wastewater treated for reuse in mining operations. Once completed in 2027, it is expected to create 500 jobs and reduce industrial waste by 300,000 tons per year.
