GEA Group, a global leader in process technology, has launched a new membrane system designed to significantly improve the recovery of sodium sulphate from brine. The GEDURASLICK membrane uses a specialized polymer coating that prevents fouling— a common issue with traditional membrane systems that reduces efficiency over time. The new system can separate sodium sulphate from brine with concentrations ranging from 50g/L to 110g/L, achieving a recovery rate of 92%—15% higher than conventional methods. The technology is particularly well - suited for use in the chemical and mining industries, where brine treatment is a major challenge. Pilot installations at two mining sites in Australia have already demonstrated a 25% reduction in treatment costs.
